Physiotherapy in the treatment of the musculoskeletal system diseases
Diseases of the musculoskeletal system (congenital dislocation of the hip, congenital clubfoot, osteochondropathy, scoliotic disease, juvenile rheumatoid arthritis, trauma, etc.) should be treated with the help of different physiotherapy methods for treatment and rehabilitation.
In the subsidence period of inflammatory and dystrophic changes, the following procedures are used:
- UV erythema
- UHF electric field
- amplipulse therapy
- diadynamic therapy
- microwave therapy
- ultrasound
- electrophoresis
- electrical stimulation
- massage
- hydrotherapy
The above-mentioned procedures are used in combination with another orthopedic treatments prescribed by an orthopedist. In the period of remission and after corrective surgeries in the recovery stages physiotherapy exercises, swimming, and mud therapy can help.
In the treatment of various posture disorders, including scoliosis, electrotherapy is most effective treatment. It includes electrophoresis and myostimulation or electrical stimulation of the back muscles, as well as abdominal muscles. Physiotherapy is used in the conservative treatment of scoliosis, during the preparatory stage before surgical treatment and post-surgery recovery. When treating scoliosis, physiotherapy should be used together with other treatments.
The use of one method or another should be determined by the attending physician, its choice depends on the stage of the disease, the medical history, as well as the individual physiological data of the patient.
