Membrane boots or shoes made of natural leather? What to choose for a child?

It’s already the middle of autumn, and the winter is right around the corner. Thus, many parents are worried about the proper shoes for their babies. Membrane boots or genuine leather shoes, which option is better? In this article we will tell you more about both of them, so you will have an opportunity to choose the best option for your child!

Membrane shoes have been created for athletes and hikers to be comfortable in extreme conditions. An optimal microclimate is maintained inside due to a special membrane, from which the name of this type of shoe comes. It doesn’t allow water and cold air to pass through but allows the foot to "breathe". In practice, this means that the feet don’t get wet or sweat in such shoes, even if you run in the snow or walk in the rain all day. Besides, the membrane allows maintaining the temperature inside the shoe at a stable level of +31. Some parents believe that this is not enough and the child's feet in membrane shoes are freezing, however, this temperature prevents overheating and increased sweating, which ultimately causes the feeling of cold.

It is worth knowing that membrane shoes have some features that must be taken into account before buying. They shouldn’t be worn with socks made of 100% wool or cotton, or dried near heating appliances. Such boots are a great option for active children!

Genuine leather shoes should be worn in dry weather. Children's boots with flannelette are suitable for the off-season at the temperature from + 5 C, when it becomes uncomfortable outside, but it’s not frosty yet. The flannelette lining keeps feet warm and genuine leather allows them to breathe. In rainy weather, it is better not to wear such shoes for a long time, since the leather still gets wet. Winter boots and boots insulated with natural fur and wool can keep warm at temperatures up to -25 degrees. However, such a temperature regime is considered conditional for leather shoes, because the legs of an inactive child can freeze even at -15C.
